Showdown on Capitol Hill: Federal Workers Demand Schumer & Jeffries Block Trump's Shutdown Power Grab

Source: Federal Unionists Network

WASHINGTON, DC — A letter titled “No Bad Budget in Our Name” will be delivered today to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.

Through a private sign-on letter, the Federal Unionists Network and 35 local, council, and national unions representing tens of thousands of federal workers are calling on Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries to oppose any budget that undermines access to affordable healthcare for millions of Americans or weakens Social Security, the VA, scientific agencies, regulatory protections, and the other services and programs tens of millions of Americans rely upon, even if it means a government shutdown. From the letter:

"A government shutdown is never Plan A. Federal workers and the communities we serve will face severe hardship. But federal workers will willingly forego paychecks in the hopes of preserving the programs we have devoted our lives to administering.”

Federal workers and their unions are calling on Congress to refuse any budget that further weakens critical public services and programs that millions of Americans rely upon.

They need to give props to the voice of the federal workers.

And meanwhile they (and the media) need to correct the lie that the Dem want Medicaid for undocumented immigrants.

It's not "messaging". It's a LACK of OWNERSHIP of the media.

We take our money and use it to try to support food security, health services, availability of and fair housing, education support, and climate change, and the GOP takes their money to buy up media outlets to spread RW propaganda.

I believe any congress critter who shows a willful neglect or ignorance of the laws s/he is suppose to administer, as well as total disregard for his/her constituents should be tossed out of congress in disgrace. It's time people not only were allowed to vote for reps who actually represented their interests, but that those same voters... when presented with what an idiot choice they made... be made to pay for the cost by losing that unholy representative.

We necessarily want an educated public. It should go without saying that our reps should be as smart... and smarter in both general and specific forms... than your average person on the street.

I probably won't be around when the country gets rebuilt after trump and company. But if I were, I wonder just what kind of government we, the People, would end up creating? Obviously, THIS one hasn't worked well in OUR interests!

and Biden's administration approved it before election. There are over 200 radio stations (plus some podcast stuff) and my regular news radio station KYW here in Philly was part of that. It's pretty much being handled by Soros' son.

I have noticed some subtle changes happening already in the past couple months, including prominently advertising "DEI". I also noticed the past weekend and last, that instead of their usual simulcast/replay of "60 Minutes" and "Face the Nation" on Sunday night, those didn't air IIRC. I think they still had the CBS "Weekend Roundup".

I will support them, and their advertisers.

We usually like to watch local tv news...especially for weather...but. We have three in our area, and they are now all Sinclair or Nexstar. I have on occasion called them and pointed out the inaccuracies in their stories. Probably a waste of my time.

I used to watch 60 Minutes. Alas, no more.

The only politician’s voice that was heard was Vance’s condemning the Dems. That’s where we stand now.

It's a truly remarkable initiative on the part of federal workers to rebuff the terror campaign in this way. This is newsy news, the stuff of real journalism.
