Trump Eyes '$10 Billion Bailout' For Farmers Hurt By Tariffs

Source: MEDIAite

Oct 2nd, 2025, 4:01 pm

President Donald Trump is reportedly considering giving American farmers a $10 billion bailout as the industry continues to be hurt by tariffs.

According to a Thursday afternoon report from The Wall Street Journal, the Trump administration is mulling over the idea of “using tariff revenue to fund much of the aid.” Farmers have seen a dramatic decrease in sales after China — amid its ongoing trade war with the United States — decided to all but end purchases of American soybeans.

The report continued:

A senior administration official said the discussions have centered on $10 billion to $14 billion in aid. The aid likely would go toward helping soybean producers, as well as other parts of the farm economy. The official stressed that the deliberations were ongoing and that nothing had been definitively settled. The White House didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

Trump said earlier this week that he planned to push Chinese leader Xi Jinping to buy U.S. soybeans to help struggling American farmers. The two leaders are scheduled to meet on the sidelines of a summit in South Korea in the coming weeks. A deal with China to buy soybeans could change Trump’s calculation about providing aid to farmers, the official said.

But if you extend this approach to its logical conslusion, and subsidize everybody who is being hurt by tarriffs, I'm guessing you more than cancel out the income from the tarriffs.

Of course they won't. They'll only address groups big enough to lobby support, potential Trump voters in swing states.

Soybean exports to China were $13 billion per year just prior to the regime. All US ag exports to just China were $41 billion in 2022 alone. So it's a small drop in the bucket of what they've lost. And is he going to do the same thing every single year from here on out? If farmers have any sense at all, they'll see it as an insult. And many will STILL go bankrupt. China doesn't need Amurkin farmers. Plenty of ag products to found elsewhere. Brazil produces more soybeans than we do.

This is still less than his first term..

In 2018 Trump administration introduced $16 billion (~$19.1 billion in 2023) of new trade aid.[9][10] In 2019, the Donald Trump administration increased the bailout to $16 billion (~$18.8 billion in 2023).

Trump has the type of behavior that he does not learn from his past mistakes and they are plenty.

The Dunning-Kruger presidency.

10B for the farmers? Really. This is what "THE MAGATS" voted for, right?

And what a smart idea it was to post tariffs. No thought process at all behind this decision. It's a total financial disaster. Like bankrupting a casino.

If it's this bad now, imagine what the next 3 years will bring.

All the lies, deception, corrupt people and policies? It's all a con which fooled millions of people.

Will we ever see normalcy again? Whatever that is........

Fri Oct 3, 2025, 08:46 AM

So, the rest of us are paying higher taxes in tariffs so that we can welfare money to large corporate farms and shills like Chuck Grassley.

According to the interwebs
"Although farms smaller than 250 acres are the most numerous for soybean production, they account for less than 18% of the total 2022 crop."

The trick that Rethugs love to play with is that technically many megafarms are "family farms" in that they are owned by a family and not a bunch of stockholders. We'll use old Chuck Grassley as an example -- his "family farm" (which swallowed up a lot of smaller farms around the original farm has approximately 750 acres.

His farm had received at least $370L in subsides by 2017. It got another $40K in PPP forgiveness. And more undisclosed money during and after Covid.

I'm certain Chuckles and other rethug congress critters will be at the front of the line for handouts.
