Marjorie Taylor Greene Slams Party Members for ‘Playing Games’ with Shutdown: ‘Republicans Need To Learn How To Wield Power’

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) accused Senate Republicans of “playing games” with the current partial government shutdown and urged them to learn how to “wield” their power better.

In posts to X on Friday, Greene pushed for Republicans to use the “nuclear option” to push a budget through. Republicans and Democrats have been unable to get to a funding compromise. Republicans have accused Democrats of fighting for healthcare for illegal immigrants. Democrats are pushing for Affordable Care Act subsidies to be extended, arguing current expirations could lead to massive premium increases for citizens.

“If Republican Senators wanted to pass the CR and reopen the government they could, by using the nuclear option to override the 60 vote rule and pass the CR with a simple majority vote. We have 53 R Senators,” Greene wrote on X.

“And as far as worrying that using the nuclear option would damage partisan relations, let’s be real, that ship has sailed a long time ago. There are no partisan relations. Instead, Republicans need to learn how to [wield] power when they have it and govern,” she wrote, spelling “wield” as “weld.”
