Marjorie Taylor Greene Slams Party Members for Playing Games with Shutdown: Republicans Need To Learn How To Wield Power
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) accused Senate Republicans of playing games with the current partial government shutdown and urged them to learn how to wield their power better.
In posts to X on Friday, Greene pushed for Republicans to use the nuclear option to push a budget through. Republicans and Democrats have been unable to get to a funding compromise. Republicans have accused Democrats of fighting for healthcare for illegal immigrants. Democrats are pushing for Affordable Care Act subsidies to be extended, arguing current expirations could lead to massive premium increases for citizens.
If Republican Senators wanted to pass the CR and reopen the government they could, by using the nuclear option to override the 60 vote rule and pass the CR with a simple majority vote. We have 53 R Senators, Greene wrote on X.
