Johnson says House will vote next week on whether to release Epstein files

Speaker Mike Johnson announced to reporters on Wednesday that he will put a bill compelling the Department of Justice to release all of its Jeffrey Epstein case files on the House floor next week – earlier than expected.

“We’re going to put that on the floor for a full vote when we get back next week,” Johnson said.

“In the meantime I’ll remind everybody the [House] Oversight Committee has been working around the clock” on its own investigation, the speaker said.

Johnson is required to put the bill from Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna and GOP Rep. Thomas Massie on the floor soon, now that their discharge petition has reached 218 signatures.

and after I get my orders from Stephen Miller on what I’m to do and say. I do a very good job at being a spineless lying weasel with no integrity.

Weasels are noble beasts compared to the spineless Little Mikey! He is more like a jellyfish--spineless, gutless, heartless, brainless, floats with the currents, and feeds from the bottom.

screwed up language/conditions that make it like a "poison pill" sort of thing in an effort to get enough votes to shoot it down.

It should easily pass, though it may be a damned if you do, damned if you don't vote for Republicans. It will be interesting to see if Trump can influence most of them.

In some ways, taking the vote is the important thing - especially as it will be tough to override Trump's veto.

However, the effort is likely why the Democrats put out 3 emails. The Republican response to dump 10s of thousands will likely backfire. (Oddly the Republicans forget that in a gesture to transparency, Clinton asked the State Department to process for redactions and put all her emails online. This was done in monthly tranches and led to the email story resurfacing every month. This is one dump, but I would bet we will see a long series of Epstein articles. )

Mikie Sherrill will still be seated, right?

If Johnson can stall until Christmas Mikie will be gone.

Sherill was elected governor of NJ.

And if you are talking about Adelita Grijalva ((D-AZ), she was sworn in this afternoon! He can't stall too long per the Rules for discharge.

Sherrill will be sworn in in January, but I don't know when she intends to resign. I think when she resigns might affect when the special election will be set.
