Zelenskiy vows not to betray Ukraine after US presents plan demanding concessions

* White House says plan was hammered out by Rubio, Witkoff

KYIV, Nov 21 (Reuters) - President Volodymyr Zelenskiy appealed to Ukrainians for unity on Friday and vowed he would never betray Ukraine, in a solemn address to the nation after the United States presented Kyiv with a peace plan that endorses key Russian demands.

Speaking in the street outside his office, a location he uses only rarely for major addresses, Zelenskiy said Ukraine was trying to preserve its freedom while retaining the support of its most important ally.

"Now is one of the most difficult moments of our history. Now, the pressure on Ukraine is one of the heaviest. Now, Ukraine can face a very difficult choice — either losing dignity or risk losing a major partner," he said. ... "I will fight 24/7 to ensure that at least two points in the plan are not overlooked – the dignity and freedom of Ukrainians," Zelenskiy said.

Washington has presented Kyiv with a 28-point plan, which calls for Ukraine to cede territory, accept limits to its military and renounce ambitions to join NATO.

every day I see photos of Russian oil depots and refineries ablaze. Russia is rationing gasoline in Crimea.

The Krasnov peace plan was the Putin peace plan.

The might of Russia's conventional military was overblown. The one advantage that Russia has over Ukraine is more men but Putin uses them as cannon fodder.

Tucker Carlson won't be doing any grocery shopping in Russia now.

but I hope he stands firm, and I hope that the other NATO nations (and other nations of good faith around the world), stand behind Ukraine if/when rump strips him of whatever armaments, money, etc. he's going to skim off the top for himself and putin.

Putin will invade again — his ego will not let him give up on possessing ALL of Ukraine. Dealing with Russia without Zelenskyy is outrageous, and the "deal" it's produced is equally outrageous. I believe the EU will stand with Ukraine because they know why Putin must be stopped, whereas #rump doesn't give a shit except for his pathetic begging for a Nobel Peace Prize.

Europe said previously, and has, sent Ukraine weapons and supplies. They can take on every bit--and more--that trump has grudgingly given Ukraine. I'm sure they realize that Ukraine is a stepping stone for Putin to try seizing other countries. He and trump both want to rule the world.

donnie, this is what treason looks like. You haven't done one positive thing for America. Well, except exposing the GOP as spineless billionaire employees.

It's not a peace plan if it tells Putin he can get what he wants through war crimes and terrorism.

12. If Ukraine holds out through winter, Russia will collapse internally. That's why they're desperate.

I hope Ukraine kicks Russians out of Pokrovsk or at least pushes them back farther and takes key terrain to set up defensive positions making Russia's position more difficult to hold or advance out as winter sets in. Then Ukraine can focus on hitting more key Russian infrastructure this winter while also increasing support for anti Russian forces in Georgia, Dagestan, Ingushetia, Chechnya etc. Russia has to lose. Badly.

If the blue tsunami materializes, it's back to full strength for Ukraine.

It would be nice to see Ukraine go on the offensive and invade Russia.

Ukraine is demolishing Russia's military and civilian infrastructure, demoralizing its citizens and forcefully bringing
the war to Putin. Kraznov tells Ukraine to surrender.
Do I have that right?

Putin is putting the screws to trump because putin knows he's losing and will likely be overthrown if this keeps going. So trump, acting as putin's proxy, demands Ukraine surrender (plus give up additional territory russia doesn't even occupy now.)
