Exclusive: US to launch new phase of Venezuela operations, sources say

Source: Reuters

WASHINGTON, D.C., Nov 22 (Reuters) - The United States is poised to launch a new phase of Venezuela-related operations in the coming days, four U.S. officials told Reuters, as the Trump administration escalates pressure on President Nicolas Maduro's government.

Reuters was not able to establish the exact timing or scope of the new operations, nor whether U.S. President Donald Trump had made a final decision to act. Reports of looming action have proliferated in recent weeks as the U.S. military has deployed forces to the Caribbean amid worsening relations with Venezuela.

Two of the U.S. officials said covert operations would likely be the first part of the new action against Maduro. All four officials quoted in this article spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of impending action by the United States.

The Pentagon referred questions to the White House. The CIA declined to comment.

I assume that all/most DUers recognize the phrase "Wag the dog" as in "the tail wagging the dog" that came from the 1997 film "Wag the Dog," which depicted a political strategy to create a distracting war to cover up a presidential scandal.

Trump appears to be wagging the dog, hoping his attacks on Venezuela will distract from his multiple failures and will reverse his plunging approval ratings.

Not gonna happen.

I'm betting that, yes, a few MAGAts will rally around the "wartime President" but the rest of the country will not approve of his war and his approval ratings will drop even more -- especially when an incident occurs that sends a lot of body bags home.

Speaking of body bags -- don't expect Trump or Hegseth to show up at Dover Air Force Base, Delaware, the received the body bags containing young guys killed in his stupid war.

It's just not the way his rotting brain works.

He'll want to launch air or missile strikes against "drug terrorists", or whatever he'll call the poor innocent bastards who happen to be in the wrong place. ...you know, something splashy, something that grabs headlines, something that proves he's a "man of action".

"What good is killing bad guys if no one hears about it? Right, Stephen? Now go get me another Diet Coke."

The FAA has issued a warning to stay away due to heightened military tensions, and now requires 72 hour advance FAA clearance before any U.S. registered planes can operate there.

Meanwhile, I just tracked a $75 million dollar luxury Global Express 7500 jet from Brazil to Venezuela’s capital area an hour ago. Why? Who?

My guess is- somebody went to offer active out of the country to Murduro. Or maybe somebody is picking up passengers to get them out of harms way. Either way it’s upping the tensions tonight.
