Trump says he will suspend immigration from all "Third World Countries"

Source: CBS News

Updated on: November 28, 2025 / 12:58 AM EST / CBS News

President Trump said late Thursday night that he would suspend immigration from developing nations to the U.S.

In a post to Truth Social, Mr. Trump wrote that he "will permanently pause migration from all Third World Countries to allow the U.S. system to fully recover."

The declaration follows Wednesday's shooting in downtown Washington, D.C., just blocks from the White House, in which a National Guard member was killed and a second Guard member critically wounded. The suspect detained in the shooting has been identified as a 29-year-old Afghan national who was admitted to the U.S. in September 2021, along with thousands of other Afghan refugees, a month after the U.S. withdrew its troops from Afghanistan.

Since the shooting, the Trump administration has taken an aggressive stance on U.S. immigration policies it says are to blame for allowing the suspect into the U.S., and has vowed to change them.

Famous last words of every washed-up performer.

The orange act is way past its expiration date. Political dictators can stay on the stage indefinitely, unless that regime is a reality-TV show. The whole GOP cult is but a bunch of D-list performers envious of A-list performers who command an audience without having to pay them. Or give them a tax cut.

When the money runs out, so does the audience. Any producer worth anything would shut down this GOP shitshow in a heartbeat. The problem is, none of them have a heart. But that’s show biz.

Bye Felicia.

"permanently pause" -- that's oxymoronic

"to allow the U.S. system to fully recover." -- and then does the permanent pause end?

Mr. Trump wrote that he "will permanently pause migration from all Third World Countries to allow the U.S. system to fully recover."

How can that possibly be legal? Couldn't the next legitimate congress and President just void that with a new law? That's what he does all the time.

Slowly at first, and then really, really fast as the Baby Boomers die off. Native-born Americans, as well as immigrants from Europe, simply don't have that many children to offset this any longer. In my circle of friends, I can count TWO couples out of 20 who had more than 2 kids. Most of us had 1. Ironically for conservatives, the biggest family we know, that popped out 4 kids, is a wonderful lesbian couple

At the same time, he wants to preside over a massive increase in US domestic manufacturing, which would require a workforce of young, healthy men and women.

The math doesn't math. Without a growing labor force, the US economy would fall apart.

They can't make enough money for housing much less raising kids. There is no job security anywhere. Even owning a pet is getting too expensive.

An option for the working class/poor but obviously not for the reich rich. They would have their own handpicked "illegals" to farm food only for them.

https://www.cbsnews.com/minnesota/news/twin-cities-animal-shelters-surge-pet-surrenders/
By Ashley Grams
Updated on: November 24, 2025 / 11:18 PM CST / CBS Minnesota

Animal shelters in the Twin Cities say increasing numbers of pet owners are surrendering their animals.

"We've been seeing an uptick over the last couple years, but really, within the last two to three months, it's been absolutely out of control," said Kerry D'Amato, executive director of Pet Haven Rescue in St. Paul.

. . . Minneapolis Animal Care and Control (MACC) is also seeing a rising number of pet surrenders.

"We're certainly at capacity," said Tony Schendel, director of the Minneapolis group. "Multiple calls a day at least. I would say right now we're out about a month trying to help people find other resources."

MACC is seeing surrender situations that involve multiple animals. Schendel says, along with surrenders, they're also dealing with an influx of animals from hoarding and cruelty cases.

"We also have situations where the community is telling us that they can't afford care for their animal."

He explained it's not just medical care causing a strain on owners, the price of pet food and housing instability are playing a role for some, too. D'Amato agrees, saying economic pressures are the driving force behind many of the surrenders to Pet Haven.

"What we're hearing from people mostly is they don't have the resources. They don't have the financial resources," D'Amato said.

The North Minneapolis Pet Resource Center is one of the organizations stepping into the gap. They provide dog and cat food to owners who need help getting by. Some of the food donations are set up at a pet food shelf inside MACC. It's an effort to keep pets and their owners together.

That's why they want to eliminate abortions and contraceptives and force women back into the kitchen and the bedroom, particularly flat on her back, so she can pop out the babies they can use to skeet shoot, thanks to their "2nd Amendment" rights to use a firearm any way they see fit.

And it would take 20 yr for their children to replace them. Long before those 20 years are up the US would be a 3rd World country.

And even without contraceptives and abortion, women aren't going to have more kids. They'll simply stop dating men altogether.

I'm not saying you're wrong that that's what the hardcore conservatives want, but their plan is bat shit crazy.

The president did not clarify when such a move might take effect or how the pause would be implemented. He also did not disclose which countries would fall under such a designation ((i.e. which countries are Third World Countries -progree)).

The president also wrote that he would "terminate" the status of millions of migrants admitted under former President Joe Biden's administration and "remove anyone who is not a net asset to the United States."

((what about those that ARE a "net asset" - he is terminating their status but not removing them? -progree))

He said he would end "Federal benefits and subsidies" for "noncitizens" and deport foreign nationals who are determined to be a "security risk, or non-compatible with Western Civilization."

The last sentence is yet another gobble-de-gook sentence

He doesn't care about us and would just as soon we starved, Of course, this won't affect the rich, so it's no problem for him. He has his undocumnted crew of 35 (think that was the number) who travel from one resort to another and have been doing this for decades. Wonder why they never get touched, why golf courses or resorts aren;t full of ICE arrests? Those "illegals" are his, so therefore don't count. It's all performative to destroy the American economy and it's workers and poor.

I would hope that we would support the immigration of skilled labor, and not just crop pickers.
From my observations in the south, immigrant crop pickers are exploited and taken advantage of. I support ensuring anyone who works in agriculture, regardless of status, gets paid a decent wage.
