Trump says airspace above and surrounding Venezuela to be closed in its entirety

Source: Reuters

Nov 29 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump said on Saturday that the airspace above and surrounding Venezuela is to be closed in its entirety.

Trump, in a Truth Social post said: "To all Airlines, Pilots, Drug Dealers, and Human Traffickers, please consider THE AIRSPACE ABOVE AND SURROUNDING VENEZUELA TO BE CLOSED IN ITS ENTIRETY."

Venezuela bans six major airlines after tensions with US escalate

Thousands of passengers have been affected by the suspension and many more are expected to be hit by the ban

Venezuela has banned six major international airlines from landing in the country after they failed to meet a 48-hour deadline to resume flights there. ... The airlines had temporarily suspended their routes into the capital, Caracas, after the US warned of "heightened military activity" in the area.

Angered by this, the Venezuelan government issued the carriers with an ultimatum that expired on Wednesday. While a number of smaller airlines continue to fly to Venezuela, thousands of passengers have been affected.

The US has deployed a large force to waters off Venezuela, which it says is to combat drug trafficking but which Venezuela's leader has denounced as an attempt to overthrow him.

Venezuela's civil aviation authority, which reports to the country's ministry of transport, announced on Wednesday that Iberia, TAP Portugal, Gol, Latam, Avianca and Turkish Airlines would lose their landing and take-off rights with immediate effect.

which made some airlines halt flights; and the Venezuelan government, annoyed that they hadn't said "damn the Trump sabre-rattling, we've got a right to fly there", said "well you can't come back". This is now laying the excuses for random Trumpian killing on land (or even in the air) in Venezuela.

all the while claiming it was a drug plane full of narco terrorist, the big question would be, would a US commander and or a US fighter pilot implement such an illegal order?

My guess would be, no.

Shoot down a civilian plane. Claim it carried drug cartel members and human traffickers.

Who will stop Trump or bring him to justice? No one.

I disagree on the implementation.
We now know the US military will obey these kind of orders from the Trump Crime Syndicate.

Trump directly threatened the US generals with loss of rank, pension, and court martial.

They will bend the knee and kiss ass.

The military you and I knew is no longer.

but would a commander or a fighter pilot actually follow such an order, especially if it's positively identifed as a civilian passenger plane.

I've got to believe that this order would be "ignored".
That is my hope.

are the technicians to train the Ven. military on how to use, operate and maintain the SAM systems that they've promised to deliver to the Venezuelans and, much as I dislike saying this, but you can bet your bottom dollar that any Air Defense systems in Ven. are already targeted, the only thing that might give Pedonald pause is if there's a chance that Russian techs. would be injured or killed and I'm not even sure that would stop him.

No, Russia is not currently sending large numbers of troops to Venezuela, but there are reports of military cooperation and past deployments for specific purposes. In March 2019, Russia sent troops for military consultations related to technical cooperation agreements, but these were not operations, and this deployment has since concluded. More recently, Russia's engagement has focused on military diplomacy and providing military aid, with a reduction in activity since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Past deployment: In 2019, Russia confirmed sending troops to Venezuela for "military consultations" as part of its military-technical cooperation agreements.

Current cooperation: Russia continues to have military ties with Venezuela, but since the 2022 invasion of Ukraine, its focus has shifted, and its military presence is significantly smaller than in previous years.

Military diplomacy: The relationship is now focused more on military diplomacy, including joint military exchanges and providing military aid.

Requests for support: Venezuela has asked Russia and China for help strengthening its military capabilities

Troops have to know every aircraft they see is friendly. It also prevents the enemy from launching attacks against the ground forces.
I guarantee this isn't something he came up with on his own. It came from the Pentagon tasked with a plan of invasion.

Well now. Here's another one of those wars Mr Peacemaker can end.

You think Russia, who can't even invade and conquer a nation right on their door step, are going to engage US forces in our own back yard?
Of course not, they're not stupid, the Generals and Admirals know it would be a disaster and humiliation for them.

And what about China?
China certainly isn't going to send combat troops or the PLAN into our back yard, the same thing would happen and the Chinese are no fools.

About the only thing they can do is go the UN to denounce this illegal action, which we all know, will amount to nothing, considering the US can veto any proposed actions.

I am hoping cooler heads step in and say no, but the reality of the situation is that if Pedonald does order an invasion of Ven., there is very little militarily that either Russia or China can do to stop it.

but we know that Pedonald doesn't give 2 shits about the military, I guess he misses the "good ole days" of US coffins landing at Dover AFB.

What a great way to deflect from the Epstein scandal a every other illegal action he's taken.
SCOTUS, Roberts, sure screwed America with their ridiculous immunity ruling.

Fucking Congress needs to step in and put a stop to this illegal regime.

General Caine has been marching in lockstep with the Trump since he came back from retirement, and I doubt if the other members of the Joint Chiefs are any better!

As for Congress, they've been allowing Trump to do what he wants and they won't do anything to stop him!

The US military is now being commanded by officers who are politicians wearing uniforms!

the personnel being sent are more likely technicians to teach the Ven. military how to operate the systems Russia is attempting to send.
Russia is not going to engage any US combat forces, they can't even take over a country on their own border, much less defend Ven.

Lets hope that Pedonald is doing his usual stirring up shit while trying to strong arm Ven. into doing what he wants them to do.
