National Guard victim's ex-boyfriend says she described limits of DC deployment as 'pointless'

Read that closely. The limits, not the deployment.

1. Sounds like she wanted combat.

This is a good illustration of why the military should not be on the streets enforcing the law. The soldiers don't have the right mindset for that.

4. It's illegal, but I wonder if the SCOTUS will

stop it. The guardsmen in D.C. are patrolling with the cops now. We're getting dangerously close to martial law, at least in certain cities that happen to be run by Democrats.

And you're 100% correct. They're not trained as civilian law enforcement. We have enough trouble with the guys who are.

Map shows Trump's approval rating in each state after 10 months
Newsweek, 11/29/25
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/map-shows-donald-trump-s-approval-rating-in-each-state-after-10-months/ar-AA1Ro0uS

Recent Civiqs polling underscores that Trump’s popularity remains highest in traditionally Republican states such as Wyoming and Idaho.

But the president continues to face significant headwinds in Democratic states such as Hawaii and battleground states like Michigan. Overall, Civiqs puts his net approval at 39 percent, with his net disapproval rating standing at 56 percent. ((that's a net approval rating of -17% in my book (39-56). I think they mistakenly included "net" twice in that above sentence -progree))

According to a new state-by-state breakdown, Trump‘s approval ratings remain positive in several Republican-dominated states, with the highest net approvals in Wyoming (+34 percent), West Virginia (+27 percent), Idaho (+23 percent), North Dakota (+18 percent), Montana (+17 percent), and Oklahoma (+17 percent).

Conversely, the president is experiencing significant disapproval in historically Democratic states, according to the polling. Hawaii reports a net approval of -55 percent, Vermont sits at -50 percent, Maryland at -44 percent, Massachusetts at -42 percent, California and Rhode Island at -40 percent, and Washington and Oregon at -36 percent.

Trump is underwater in all the 2024 battleground states

Below is an Imgur of the map
but it is "static", to see the map where you can mouse over each state and see its name and net approval rating pop up, click on this link:

12. Not sure the boyfriend speaks for her but his account sounds authentic.

She understood why she was there: "because crime was bad." People would cuss her out but she couldn't do anything but call the police. By this account she sounds very much like a well-meaning but totally misled ignoramus. The media can pour a dump truck load of sugar on Sarah but I'm saving my tears for others.

13. And this is exactly why the military should not be used for political theater

Her death is tragic — no one deserves that. But it’s also true that the things she said showed a very limited grasp of why we don’t unleash violence on protesters in a free society. Acknowledging that isn’t disrespecting her; it’s pointing out the real danger in deploying people who misunderstand the purpose of the Guard.
