More than 200 Border Patrol agents are expected to arrive in New Orleans, Louisiana, in the coming weeks, according to a report. The Big Easy could soon become the next target of the Trump administrations federal immigration agenda, sources told ABC News.
Exactly when the federal agents could be touching down in New Orleans is not immediately apparent. However, speculation has swirled for weeks that agents were heading for Louisianas largest city, following similar immigration operations in Chicago, Los Angeles, and most recently, Charlotte.
"Every day, DHS enforces the laws of the nation across the country. We do not discuss future or potential operations, DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin told The Independent in a statement.
Last week, the Associated Press reported that DHS was planning to carry out Operation Swamp Sweep, to arrest about 5,000 people across southeast Louisiana and into Mississippi. This immigration crackdown is expected to begin on December 1, the outlet reported.

(145 posts)they're going to get more than they bargained for out of the citizenry in NOLA. Think ICE vehicles trapped on streets blocked off with giant floats and krewes in costumes (that obscure their identities at least as well as the masks these goons wear) coming out in droves to film their every move. The whistles will be purple, green and gold.

(39,702 posts)Ash Wednesday (the beginning of Lent) falls on February 18th, 2026. So the Mardi Gras parades and festivities are held in the 4 or 5 days leading up to Ash Wednesday. It's a busy time in NOLA with lots of tourists, and it looks like ICE is getting ready to spoil it for everyone.
