Klobuchar says Senate ACA vote 'will happen' before New Year

Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) predicted Sunday that the Senate will hold a vote on extending subsidies offered under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) this year.

“That vote will happen. And whether it will pass is in the hands of Donald Trump and the Republicans,” Klobuchar told host Dana Bash on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

The subsidies, set to expire at the end of the year, were a flash point during the 43-day government shutdown, which ended earlier this month. Senate Majority John Thune (R-S.D.) offered eight Democratic caucus members a vote on the premiums by mid-December in exchange for their support of a measure to end the funding lapse.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), however, has expressed little interest in holding a vote in the lower chamber on the subsidies. Earlier this month, a group of 58 House Democrats sent a letter to Johnson asking him to do so.

They're getting mighty fed up with Chump and his constant lies and BS, so maybe they see him going down next year. I don't know. But the House members all have to face their voters next year, along with a good number of Senators. Enough of them will stand up and save the ACA and present the "flying finger" to Chump.

I guess they can extend the window, but what is a person supposed to do? Policies lapse on December 31. Is a person expected to sign up for the same policy that will cost thousands of dollars more per year, and just hole that Congress takes some action?
