Thousands of Americans evacuated from Middle East on charter flights, State Department says

March 7 (Reuters) - The United States ‌has completed over a dozen charter flights and evacuated thousands of Americans from the Middle East since last ⁠week, the U.S. State Department said on Saturday.

The Trump administration has faced criticism over its planning and initial assistance to U.S. citizens trying to leave the region since U.S. ‌and ⁠Israeli strikes on Iran began last Saturday, with the Iranians responding with attacks on neighboring countries, ⁠sparking airspace closures.

The State Department said it was boosting charter flight ⁠and ground transport operations in the region as ⁠security conditions allow.

Its a big fat fib! They may well be arranging such but it hasn't happened yet IMO.
The ONLY source on this topic is the State Dept. talking heads. There was a release on the 4th which claimed they were in the process of arranging flights.
There is coverage of a flight arriving from from Abu Dhabi on Fox news in DC.
I don't buy the 17,000 number but It seems some are getting out. That would be in the neighborhood of 50 flights.
