CBS News chief Bari Weiss is reportedly planning the imminent layoff of dozens of staffers as she looks to remake the network for the digital age. Weiss first made mention of the cuts several weeks, according to Business Insider as she told CBS News employees that a tsunami of technological change could lead to changes at the network.
I cant stand up here and tell you that in a moment of incredible transformation that thats not going to mean transformation of our workforce, Weiss told staffers at a late-January town hall meeting.
During the meeting, Weiss said CBS was shifting away from commodity news in favor of exclusive reports that cant be found anywhere else. If you can get what were selling in five other places, in 10 other places, in 100 other places thats probably not a thing we need to double down on, Weiss said.
Weiss also indicated she wants CBS News to attain digital dominance in the field, and said shes looking to hire more people who can help CBS transform into a digital-focused company, Business Insider reported.

(751 posts)CBS News will become a wasteland, and she will be fired within a year.
The thing is, the barriers to entry for a news organization are pretty low. The world doesnt need CBS News, and I think there will be new entries in the market over the next few years that will actually be good for the news industry.

(3,998 posts)It's news has always been in last place (this was when ABC, NBC, AND CBS were still the major sources of news). Usually ABC and NBC would alternate top spot. CBS did have good programming for other shows, but their news always sucked.

(9,279 posts)Since CBS is moving more and more into digital, there are more and more CBS clips available.
I have even seen liberal CBS clips posted, I still avoid those since the entire network is RW propaganda.
