U.S. forces sought to arm Iranian protesters earlier this year after the country was rocked by demonstrations over dire economic conditions but saw those arms largely fall into the hands of Irans Kurds, President Donald Trump said on Sunday.
The president began his Easter Sunday with a series of revelations and proclamations about the Iran war, including a bizarre, cursing threat to begin targeting Iranian power plants on Tuesday if a deal was not reached to open the Strait of Hormuz. Open the F***in Strait, you crazy b*****ds, or youll be living in Hell, he warned.
But in an interview over the phone with Foxs Trey Yingst on Sunday morning, the president made another piece of news: The U.S. was directly involved in efforts to destabilize and overthrow the Iranian government weeks before strikes were launched across Iran, and as U.S. negotiators were engaging with senior Iranian governmental officials in Europe. Those protests began shortly before the new year and lasted for weeks, ending in the violent subjugation of protesters by the Iranian government.
We sent them a lot of guns. We sent them through the Kurds, and the president says he thinks the Kurds kept them, Yingst said on Fox News, paraphrasing the president.

(2,325 posts)about the Kurds, Syria, etc these last ten years, knows this is pure bullshit......especially concerning the Kurds.......
Trump was complicit in helping PUTIN who was trying to destroy the kurds, and keep his buddy Assad in power of Syria.
Putin supplied Assad with outlawed chemical bombs, which Assad used on entire villages of the Kurds, killing every man, woman, child or infant. Some of the Hague's charges (International War Crimes and Crimes against Humanity) against Putin are from that dropping of those weapons. We had a military base over there that was protecting the Kurds, and Trump ordered them to bug out overnight, leaving the entire base, weapons, facilities to aid Putin/Assad...which opened the door to the bombing with forbidden use of Chemical Weapons....

If there are any reputable "concerning" caring Republicans, the USA and her people are speaking to you to stop this madness.
The people of the USA will help you, but republicans must want to save the USA.

(7,379 posts)Remember Hegseth actually never shipped some arms to Ukraines that Were paid for- until the Europeans demanded an accounting.
Blaming others for their own stealing seems the more likely explanation.
Let-s remember that the White House operatives during the Reagan administration had a deal going that involved both Iran and South American right wing gangsters.

(746 posts)If they actually sent any arms. It's just another indication of their incompetence that they fell into the wrong hands. This administration couldn't pour shit out of a boot even if the directions were written on the heel.

(48 posts)Now he claims the reason the regime wasn't over thrown is because he armed the Kurds.

(7,171 posts).... is stupid. Without a disciplined and trained organization under competent leadership, all that would do is give the regime some cover for mass executions and indiscriminate slaughter.
The Kurds in Iran may have a disciplined, well regulated militia (I don't know), but the Iranian protesters do not.

The Middle East is always awash with weaponry anyway. That's another reason we do not want American boots on the ground......
