Russia refuses to rule out strikes on European drone facilities, claims 'growing' war role

Source: Kyiv Independent

European countries are becoming increasingly involved in Russia's war against Ukraine, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said during a briefing on April 17.

The remarks follow recent Russian warnings that European support for Ukraine's drone capabilities could bring "unpredictable consequences," with Moscow accusing several countries of becoming part of Kyiv's "strategic rear."

Ukraine and European allies have expanded defense cooperation in recent weeks, including agreements with the U.K. and Germany on joint drone initiatives. Spain and Belgium also pledged a combined 2 billion euros ($2.35 billion) in new military aid.

Russia's Defense Ministry claimed that drones used in Ukrainian strikes on Russia were produced with support from facilities across Europe, naming cities including London, Munich, Prague, and Riga, and alleging component production sites in Spain and Italy.

The threats from Russia are increasing as Ukraine is gaining the advantage in the war. Is Russia crazy enough to attack Europe and NATO? IMHO, yes.

He probably thinks Trump would support him rather than NATO if he attacks a NATO country. And he could be right. Trump has said that he would not come to NATO's defense.

They have to do more sabre rattling to scare Ukraine's EU allies away. What country could Putin flee to when Russia revolts against him and his oligarchs?

He was probably hoping to go to the US, or France if LePenn had won.

Now his back is against the wall.

He receives drones from Iran, from North Korea ammunition and soldiers for those 'meat wave' attacks against Ukrainian front lines.....but poor Vlad is butt-hurt that Europe dares help one of their own.

If Nato attacks Russia, it's mutually assured destruction. So Russia could probably get away with a small attack.

I won't mention the US for the obvious reason that Trump would never nuke all his potential investments in Russia

Ukraine's been attacking Russian territory for quite some time. The initial fears in some quarters that such attacks would bring on nuclear retaliation have subsided, and Russia itself only resorts to the threat nowadays when feeling particularly powerless.

I don't think Russia has any appetite for bringing on its own extermination by going nuclear in any circumstances. It has two major population concentrations and, as Ukraine's proven, few major effective surviving air defence complexes apart from those concentrated around Putin's Valdai palace. It would be very vulnerable in ways its chosen enemies largely aren't.

Trump helps Russia, but congress might rise to the occasion. Even of they don't, the odds are very son against Russia. You're saying a small nuclear strike will succeed? Very doubtful. It would bring down a shitstorm.

9. Reasons Putin feels emboldened

1. The Felon has "temporarily" suspended sanctions against Russia on the sale of oil to ease the shortage of oil caused by the Felon's unprovoked war with Iran started by Netanyahu.

2. The Felon has threatened to leave NATO and not come to their defense in response to them not helping to fight a war he and Netanyahu started.

3.Jet fuel is running low in the U.K. and Europe.

4.The Felon has threatened to withhold already promised and contracted delivery of missiles and military equipment to the U.K. and Europe to make up for the depletion of our own supplies used to bomb Iran.

5. Orban lost which means one less strategic puppet for Putin to use.

6. Putin's puppet in the U.S. is losing his support and the elections are months away, which means he won't be able to count on future help from the Felon.

7. The war in Iran has only further established, Iran as the gate keeper of the strait of Hormuz which controls oil shipments.

...Putin's ambitions against nations committed to human rights, individual liberty, the rule of law, and pluralism grows.

In the face of Russia's criminal war and atrocities in occupied territories, Trump's halt of military support to Ukraine was a knife in the heart to every American with a conscience.

As if that horrific act were not enough, he enriches and aligns the U.S. with the perpetrators of intolerable crimes against humanity again and again.

The felon and his enablers in Congress must be held accountable for their betrayal of the values generations of Americans have fought for.

Sweep them into the dust bin of history.

And take care with pronouncements that 2026 will be a blow out for Dems. Over-confidence suppresses contributions and suppresses turnout. To win against the billions and conspiracies to corrupt the election, both large and small, we must do whatever we are able to make the turnout for Democratic nominees the absolute largest possible.

If you can, give to state parties NOW. Earlier money to state parties helps build the infrastructure needed for voter outreach and election protection efforts that benefit ALL Democratic candidates. A dollar given early is worth much more than late money!

One way to simultaneously give to AK, FL, IA, ME, and TX is the Hopium Audacious Expansion Fund.

https://secure.actblue.com/donate/hopiumexpansionfund

Note: This project reached it's March 31 goal of raising 500,000 in the first quarter. Help them exceed all expectations for the current quarter! (The description on the donation page hasn't kept up with events.)

And give directly to state parties in so-called "hopeless" places like Mississippi. They need our help to break more state legislative super majorities so they can block the corrupt voter suppression agenda being perpetrated across the nation.

I thought it was Lavrov or Putin that said this at first, but saw it was this other guy.

Another drunk Russian threatening war against NATO. They’ve been at this since they started the war. I know Russia feels more emboldened with Trump in office, but I think they also forget that the UK and France also have nukes.

Yawn.
