Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas) on Sunday told CNN's "State of the Union" that the Secret Service "needs to reconsider" having both President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance attend events like the White House Correspondents' Association dinner following the prior night's shooting.

"You had the president and the vice president at the head table, both of them together, and the speaker of the House," McCaul said. "Had an explosive device gone off, you would have knocked out the president, vice president, speaker, the three in line of succession."

"I think the Secret Service needs to reconsider having both the president and vice president together at something like that," McCaul said. "Chuck Grassley would be the president."

Senate Pro Temp is fourth in the line before any cabinet members. Most of the cabinet, Mikey J,
VP, and Trump were all gathered. If they were killed, the it would be President Grassley.
