Senator Adam Schiff (D-CA) called out President Donald Trump on Thursday for telling falsehood after falsehood about the war with Iran, claiming that Americans no longer know when to believe him.
Trumps claims about the Iran war took a few sharp turns on Thursday after the U.S. conducted strikes against the country on Wednesday for the second day in a row in retaliation for the downing of an Apache helicopter by an Iranian drone. The president began the day by claiming that the U.S. would strike VERY HARD TONIGHT and threatening to invade Irans Kharg Island. Hours later, he announced he had canceled strikes against Iran, going on to tell reporters that We just made great settlement of the war with Iran. An Iranian spokesperson disputed the presidents claim, telling Reuters that no such agreement exists.
Schiff discussed the presidents conflicting moves on Thursdays edition of The Source with CNNs Kaitlan Collins, who asked the senator whether he believed Trumps threats about Iran.
It lacks a lot of credibility, Schiff responded.

(35,076 posts)Call him a psychopath. Because that's what he is. Call him a failure. Especially at gaslighting.
Whatever you call him, he will not care, and it certainly won't change his behavior.
So, do the name calling, then please get to work on behalf of the American people. We already know what he is and it's past time for progressive action.
1. Aggressive, callous, and cunning
2. Complete absence of conscience and empathy
3. Very adept at manipulating others
4. Willingness to engage in immoral, criminal conduct
5. Willingness to take what they want and do as they please, regardless of who is hurt or wronged
6. Deceptive ability to appear outwardly benevolent
7. Deceptive ability to behave in superficially charming ways to hide purely selfish motives
8. Willingness to use intimidation and violence to control others in order to satisfy their own needs
9. Willingness to intentionally violate the basic inherent human rights of others
10. Complete absence of any sense of guilt or remorse for the harm their actions have caused to others
11. Rationalization of their own immoral behavior
12. Will attempt to lay blame upon someone else for their own conduct
13. Denial, will deny their own wrongdoing outright
14. Utter contemptuousness toward the feelings and desires of their fellow beings
15. Pathological lying, will say anything without any concern for truth to advance their own hidden agendas
16. Ablity to feign [fake] normal human emotions and empathy
17. Distorted sense of the consequences of their actions
18. Total failure to accept any responsibility for their own socially irresponsible ways
19. Strong belief that they will never be brought to justice for their criminal behavior

(323 posts)any of our leaders speaks out against Trump, and Sen. Schiff HAS been a leader through some our darkest times, but why oh why can't he just say "lie after lie"? No one uses the word "falsehood" in normal speech and use of it - instead of just saying "lie" - makes it seem like Sen. Schiff is playing word games. Call it for what it is and dispense with traditional notions of propriety and decorum. Our country needs to understand that our president is a liar.

(35,076 posts)Because he might have been raised by someone older or learned "proper" interpersonal language from a teacher, grandmother or older parent of a generation that believes or believed that in order to maintain social status one must not debase themselves when dealing with the debased.
Unfortunately, in an attempt to be proper and polite, he strikes a chord somewhere in between snobby and milquetoast.

(53,847 posts)He lied to everyone about everything. It worked for him then, so I guess he thinks it will work for him now on a much bigger stage. The problem is the whole world is paying attention.
