President Trump's Department of Justice plans to deploy election monitors to at least two cities in Massachusetts and two in New Hampshire for their respective state primaries.
The Massachusetts primary is set for Sept. 1, and New Hampshire's is scheduled for Sept. 8. Election monitors -- who are usually Department of Justice attorneys -- will be sent to Boston and New Bedford, according to federal and state officials. Manchester and Nashua are the two New Hampshire cities.
Harmeet Dhillon, who serves as the department's assistant attorney general for civil rights, characterized the effort as a way to boost voter confidence in election outcomes.
"This is something that DOJ does routinely," she said in a video posted to the social media platform X this week.

In am
interview, Dhillon called the North Carolina town where she grew up "the heart of Ku Klux Klan country".
"Assistant attorney general for civil rights".
I'd like to see monitors in response to
this court decision today:
Judge Jeffrey T. Karp ruled that Michael Walsh, the state Republican Party's endorsed pick for attorney general, should have his name put back on the September ballot, effectively overturning a decision handed down last month by the State Ballot Law Commission, which found that hundreds of signatures Walsh submitted were likely fake.
