Trump downplays FBI role after Graham death: 'I wish he took better care of himself'

Source: The Hill

President Trump said he did not know why the FBI showed up at the late Sen. Lindsey Graham’s (R-S.C) home in Washington, saying the bureau is “wasting their time.”

“Well, I don’t know why because I think he had a problem,” Trump said in the Oval Office Tuesday while meeting with the Iraqi prime minister. “His father had a pretty similar problem, as you know, it’s very unique.” “I don’t see a lot of evil there, I know there’s all sorts of conspiracy theories going along and I think the FBI is wasting their time if they’re doing that,” he added.

Graham died Saturday evening from what his office said was a “brief and sudden illness.” The chief medical examiner preliminarily ruled on Sunday that the 71-year-old died of aortic dissection due to arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease. The South Carolina Republican’s father died at the age of 69 from a heart attack.

“At first I heard It was clogged arteries,” the president said of the late senator. “Because he did have clogged arteries. He had a problem with that. He was – I wish he took better care of himself.” Trump said he’s reviewed the medical reports and has heard from White House doctors to explain what happened.

why do we need an fbi, or courts. trump can decide most of these cases with no evidence at all.

i think there does need to be a investigation. i'd rather patel and crew stay out but yea, toxicology and an autopsy are appropriate.

Now that the Child Rapist is trying to gloss over it, I am suspicious.

Whaat motive does he have to discourage an investigation unless he thinks his friend Putin is involved?--or someone closer.

and that is to search for any incriminating diaries, journals, emails, texts, etc. They would have been sent by Miller, Blanche, or Vought, as I don't think Trump has enough metal faculties to recognize that threat and would explain his puzzlement.

Graham was a Senator and probably had high level security clearance. He thought they went in to secure any documents he may have taken home to work on.

people sometimes do dumb things - and this administration certainly doesn't care about laws.

I do think the "Russians poisoned him" could also be more than a conspiracy theory (my husband tends to roll his eyes when I go off on those) ... but they certainly have a history of poisoning adversaries, so who knows.

is not something you can cause by poison. I don't suspect foul play in Graham's death, but I do suspect the FBI was there to clean up any incriminating evidence Graham might have had.

I'm sure that in most respects Lindsey was more healthy than Trump.

Maybe he was talking to himself, as he realizes how vulnerable he is at his age health wise, especially considering how much younger Lindsey was.

(mainly with problems with Democrats), he is blaming Lindsay for his own death and pretending he is living longer because he somehow has done something to deserve it.

Meanwhile, I don't think Trump ever cared that much for Lindsey. He likes having obsequious people at his beck and call, but he finds such weakness disgusting.

Together we changed our diet, increased our physical fitness, made significant lifestyle changes.

In 1991, he had 2 Angioplasties to open arteries in January and in June, a Triple bypass. For 30 years, it was great until issues started up. In 2025, Congested Heart Failure took him from me. He did take better care of himself with my help and medications.

Aortic dissection means a tear in the arterial wall of the heart are often fatal. In Lindsey Graham's case, that is true.
