Over 100 House Democrats vote to end military aid to Israel in rebuke to US ally

More than 100 House Democrats on Wednesday voted to slash military aid to Israel, a significant rebuke of the longtime US ally as accusations that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government green-lit genocide in Gaza continue to convulse the party ahead of November’s midterm election.

The amendment proposed by Republican congressman Thomas Massie to a spending measure would have halted $3.3bn in planned aid – much of which would have gone to Israel’s military – but was rejected by a 104-314 vote, with 10 lawmakers voting present. It received the support of 103 House Democrats, or nearly half of the 212-strong caucus, underscoring how sentiment in the party towards Israel and the Netanyahu government has soured since the 7 October attack and Israel’s subsequent invasion of Gaza.

The provision resulted in an unusual split among top House Democrats, with minority leader Hakeem Jeffries and the caucus chair, Pete Aguilar, both saying they would vote against it. In a letter to members, Jeffries called Massie’s amendment “overly broad”, but said he would not formally try to persuade other Democrats to join him in opposition, citing “the strongly held views throughout the caucus in this important area of foreign policy”.

On Wednesday, the House Democratic whip Katherine Clark said she would support Massie’s amendment, saying in a statement “it is clear that the status quo is not tenable. We should not provide a blank check for military aid to any country that does not comply with US law, interests, and values. The Netanyahu government has failed to meet that standard,” added Clark, the second-highest ranking House Democrat.

Not everyone in Israel is a bad person.
But that doesn't mean we should be sending them any money.
I don't think most people realize that we are sending Israel money, not just at a federal level, but at a state, county and even city level.
Israel has a booming economy and offers it's citizens free healthcare and free university.

There is zero reason to keep sending military aid to them.

3. So let me get this straight
Wed Jul 15, 2026, 06:06 PM

IDF forces have murdered children.
IDF forces have raped American women.
IDF forces have raped women from allied countries.
IDF forces kidnapped innocent people from ships in international waters.
IDF forces, literally on video, led by the head of Israel's internal security, tortured American and allied countries citizens.

The nation of Israel gives its citizens free healthcare and free university.

Yet our country, at a federal, state, county and even city level, keep sending billions and billions of dollars to Israel. We are spending ourselves into a debt hole we will never recover from, just for Israel.

Didn't even have to mention Jonathan Pollard, NUMEC, Arnon Milchan, Ben-Ami Kadish, etc., etc., ad nauseam all the way back to the Truman admin. Yeah, some friend and ally.

Time to cut them off for good. Want military aid? Then you have to pay like everyone else with more than the means to do so.

The defense industry wants to take $1,500,000,000,000 a year LITERALLY out of the mouths of babies and old ladies, and students trying to get an education. Netanyahu may be a psychopath that just likes to murder people. I don't know. But he is exactly what that defense industry loves. He keeps the demand for killing machines sky high.

To do so, he's teamed up with Israel's crazies. A bunch of religious freaks bent on some weird remake of the supposed, 10th century BCE empire of Solomon that's based on mythical accounts and not archeological evidence. And they're willing to kill everyone not Jewish in the area to get it. Perpetual war in the name of their god, and our tax dollars are funding it. Time to cut them off.

7. Carter and the Camp David Accords and treaty

(snip)

Notably, the treaty that resulted from the second “framework” also called for the United States to provide both countries with billions in annual subsidies, including military aid. Under the terms negotiated, Egypt receives $1.3 billion annually in military aid from the United States, while Israel receives $3 billion.

Israel is a rich country. We do not need to be subsidizing their defense.

According to the CIA Facebook the average Israeli spends less per capita on defense than an American.

Besides, they need to come clean on the USS Liberty massacre before getting any US Help on anything.

I have no idea why Trump is obsessed with making Israel live well.

I don't wish them any ill will but their problems are not our problems.

He said, due to the wording, it MIGHT affect humanitarian aid to Palestinians.

It's news to me that a penny of the $3.8 Billion ever went to helping Palestinians.

But what do I know.
