Cory Booker's marathon Senate floor speech stretches overnight in protest over Trump actions

(CNN) New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker’s marathon speech on the Senate floor has stretched overnight into Tuesday morning as he protests actions taken by President Donald Trump’s administration, saying that he will keep going “as long as I am physically able.”

The Democratic senator has spoken for more than 12 hours, beginning his remarks at 7 p.m. ET Monday evening, and is undertaking this effort at a time when Democratic leaders in Washington are under pressure from their base to do more to stand up to Trump. Booker is a member of the Senate Democratic leadership team.

As of 7:30 a.m. ET, Booker was still speaking and had touched on a number of topics.

“I rise with the intention of disrupting the normal business of the United States Senate for as long as I am physically able,” Booker said at the outset of his remarks. “I rise tonight because I believe sincerely that our country is in crisis.”

Those in titular positions of power need take notes AND emulate the actions.
There should be a freaking conga-line of Democratic senators waiting to do the same, period.

Surrender is a survival reaction, not a resistance movement.

THIS is how you "win", by DOING something (ANYTHING really), not pathetically chanting it like a stooge.

Senator Cory Booker's historic, overnight marathon speech on the Senate floor is nothing short of a profile in courage. For over 25 hours, he stood tall, his voice ringing out against the Trump administration's destructive policies, proving that Democrats will not back down in the face of tyranny.

This isn't just a symbolic gesture; it's a powerful act of resistance. It's a clear message to Trump and his cronies that we will not be silenced, that we will not stand idly by while they dismantle our democracy and attack our most vulnerable communities.

Senator Booker's dedication, his sheer physical and mental endurance are an inspiration to us all. He's showing us what it means to fight for what's right, to use every tool at our disposal to defend our values.

The fact that he began his speech at 7 p.m. and continued through the day, well into Tuesday evening, underscores the urgency of this moment.

This is exactly the kind of leadership we need from our Democratic representatives. We need more voices like Senator Booker's, voices that are unafraid to challenge the status quo and hold those in power accountable.

The pressure from our base is real, and it's justified. We cannot afford to be complacent. We must demand that our elected officials use every available means to oppose Trump's agenda. Senator Booker is showing us how it's done.

Let's amplify his message, let's support his efforts, and let's join him in this fight. We must be as tireless and as determined as he is in defending our democracy and our values. His marathon stand is a testament to the power of one person's voice, and it's a call to action for all of us. Let's rise to the occasion!
