ICE Has Deported at Least 70 U.S. Citizens

GAO confirms ICE deported U.S. citizens due to systemic failures — and the agency still doesn’t know how many more it’s wrongly targeting

WASHINGTON — A recent report from the Government Accountability Office (GAO) confirms what immigrant advocates have long warned: ICE has deported American citizens.

Between 2015 and 2020, ICE deported at least 70 people who were U.S. citizens, according to the GAO. That’s not just a bureaucratic mistake — it’s a constitutional violation.

U.S. citizens cannot be deported under civil immigration law. Yet GAO found that ICE and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) lack the records to even know how many people they may have deported in error.

In total, the watchdog found that ICE arrested 674 potential U.S. citizens, detained 121, and deported 70 — all of whom may have been legally untouchable by immigration enforcement.

The article mentions repeated known errors that ICE refuses to correct which has led to this and that these 70 are likely just the tip of the iceberg. WTF, people?

However, it is challenging to find information in a single depository, so to speak. I wish I could answer your question.

Are they allowed to return? They should be heavily compensated.

These citizens should have never been deported. These deportations are due to Stephen Miller telling people to ignore due process

A tamale maker and a vineyard expert who lived in America for 30+ years were both dragged away in handcuffs and sent to detention centers in and maybe even outside of the country with no news for their families.

And people say, well, they should have come here legally.

As if they know the situation of thousands of non-criminal immigrants who play by the rules by showing up to immigration and waiting for their status to be approved.

Now they are taking Americans who probably look Hispanic or were documenting the Gestapo tactics. And yeah, I've read about some very white born in the USA people being arrested, too.

People keep saying don't expect a hero on a white horse to save us, but that's EXACTLY what we need. If somebody doesn't come forward, this shit will never end.

First, timing.
Election was in 2016, Trump took over 1/17. So 2 years of that were Obama.
Election was in 2020, Biden took over in 1/21. So none of that was under Biden.

Second, why should it matter. ICE does something wrong under a (D) president, well, let's not talk about it, it's all okay, find a rug that's not nailed down and sweep the matter under it?

there was no mention whatsoever of the implication that D Presidents are just as guilty of this... just the dates. I figured i'd point it out since ICE has been a problem since its inception. It's only now that a majority of people are seeing the inherent problems with the dept. It just seemed somewhat misleading.
