Our democracy looks a bit like 'Mad Max - Pennsylvania Avenue'

Dear Democracy,

You just turned 249, and the years are starting to show. You’re getting sorta creaky and the liver spots are getting, well, darker. I barely recognize you these days.

It’s understandable, of course. You’ve been under a great deal of stress lately. This is what happens in families when a relative goes absolutely, completely bat crazy.

No doubt your founding parents are spinning in their graves as they watch the country you were born into become a dystopian version of “Mad Max - Pennsylvania Avenue.”

It also has probably not gone unnoticed by you that we are now led by a real life unhinged, tyrannical replicant of “Animal House’s” Bluto Blutarsky, only with access to the nuclear codes.

Democracy bears much responsibility for this disaster, of course – democracy’s tragic flaw: the voters; their fear, ignorance, and stupidity, their racism, bigotry, and hate.
