This is a thoughtful **opinion** piece from one of the few mostly independent newspapers which still survive. It is, I think, worthwhile reading and reflecting upon

I've quoted nothing, since it is conceivable that any excerpt might be flamed as "out of context, unfair and so on" to the author, to America, Europeans, Palestinians or to Israelis

My motivation for posting is not to inflame, shame or enrage but with the hope that, on this Sunday afternoon, there might be time to reflect upon what is said. That reflecting on it might help us to understand what is going on not only in that distant part of the world, but in our own nation on this Fourth of July weekend

I printed it out (without pictures) to read as I find the ability to scribble notes and add marginalia to be of help when reading something which is this difficult to think about

It is not The Truth; but, it is worth thinking about
