MAGA world swallows a difficult truth: Arresting Trump's opponents is easier said than done

(Politico) The calls from President Donald Trump’s MAGA base are getting noisier: Texas Democrats who fled the state to derail a hyperpartisan GOP redistricting maneuver should be criminally charged, arrested and dragged back to Austin.

Now, it appears the FBI is involved in the hunt.

But those screaming the loudest appear likely to wind up disappointed. There’s no known evidence that the absconding lawmakers have actually broken any federal or state laws, despite Gov. Greg Abbott’s strained suggestion that they may have committed bribery.

It’s a familiar refrain for Trump’s second term: The far right lusts to see prominent Democrats or Trump adversaries hauled off in handcuffs, only to be let down when their revenge fantasies run into reality.

E.g., if one state says the age of consent for statutory rape purposes is 16, and a second state says it's 18 (a matter of state, not federal law), and there was no transport of the alleged victim across state lines, and a perpetrator from the first state flees to the second state, do the Feds get involved in capturing the perpetrator and bringing them back to the first state?

We need to grasp where we are, we need to grasp what an authoritarian regime does.

Are starting to not support them so what’s the one way you can just ignore your own supporters let alone the rest of the country?

End democracy as we know it and install yourself through gerrymandering and a corrupt Supreme Court as permanent holders of the House.

And the beauty of it is, obviously the Supreme Court is going to uphold their illegal gerrymandering and they will find a reason to overturn any blue state that does the same thing, obviously. They will just make up reasons out of thin air.
