Donald Trump throws Vladimir Putin a "welcome back" party: How much more can our world community take?

by Gael Tarleton

Only two big shots showed up to this party: convicted felon Donald J. Trump, the wannabe dictator who occupies the Oval Office, and the indicted international war criminal Vladimir S. Putin, President-for-Life of the Russian Federation.

To call yesterday’s meeting in Alaska a “summit” stretches credulity. Let’s call it what it really was: a photo op. The President of the United States gave Putin the consummate photo op to recycle on Russian state television whenever it’s convenient.

Putin is a monster. A monster with ironclad control over thousands of nuclear weapons and a police state, a former KGB agent whose psyche never recovered from the collapse of the Soviet empire and who continues to seek to reclaim those nations lost from Moscow’s grip when the Warsaw Pact dissolved and the Soviet Union broke apart.

Donald Trump gave Putin the trappings of legitimacy on the world stage.

(From the last paragraph in the OP)
"The biggest risk to Ukraine and European security is to allow Trump and Putin to meet behind closed doors and decide the future of Ukraine's and Europe's security.
Now is the time for Ukraine and Europe to meet and shape their future security. Together."
