And those are just some of the terrible things happening this week.

The United States of America is under attack like never before in its modern history, thanks to a vengeful, neofascist movement with eliminationist tendencies that is obsessed with figuring out how to oppress anyone who either isn’t on board with their evil agenda or who doesn’t bow to them. They call themselves Republicans, the name of the political party they’ve subsumed, but they are not the political descendants of Abraham Lincoln, Ulysses S. Grant, Theodore Roosevelt, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Nelson Rockefeller, or other “Grand Old Party” greats from past eras.

It would be more accurate to describe them as Authoritarians: people who are in favor of highly concentrated government power maintained by political repression and the exclusion of potential or supposed challengers by armed force.
