A list of Degrees Trump's Dept of Education that he will no longer consider to be Professional Degrees...........

The DoE has reclassified numerous health professional and other degrees, limiting access to federal student loan programs eligible for the higher OBBBA loan caps from thousands to a few hundred.

As ALWAYS, this is about $$.

We're about to become REALLY "great"...

Degrees no longer considered "professional" under the Trump administration's new definition include nursing, physician assistant, physical therapy, audiology, architecture, accounting, and education. This change impacts student loan eligibility, as some of these programs will now be capped at lower limits.

Nursing: Includes programs such as nursing, nurse practitioners, and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degrees.
Health Sciences: Excludes physician assistants, physical therapists, and audiologists.
Other fields: Also excludes architecture, accounting, and education.

The change is due to new regulations from President Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill," which specifically lists the following as professional degrees: medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, optometry, law, veterinary medicine, osteopathic medicine, podiatry, chiropractic, theology, and clinical psychology.

but nurse practitioners aren't? That's stupid! The Democrats are going to have a hell of a mess to clean up when they gain the majority again. It's going to take years to put all of this stuff back like it was. Some of the damage is probably irreparable.

Reading is fundamental.

And it's time for everyone in all these professions to call their senators and congresscritters and RAISE HELL!

Supposedly, under the new regulations, this should have virtually no financial impact on any nursing student that is not attending one of the ripoff factory for--pprofit diploma mills.

If I am wrong about this, then let's see the numbers.

This sounds like much ado over nothing. There are many real atrocities that need to be stopped. This is not one of them, as far as I can tell.

$200K, which effectively shuts down any loans for graduate programs that will lead to degrees such as Nurse Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife, etc. It may also cut off access to many undergrad programs in many of the more prestigious schools or even state universities as tuition is going nowhere but UP. But the real gut punch is just telling nurses 9as well as all these other professions) thatm "Nope, you're no longer a profession, you're just a JOB."

Perhaps it would have been better to call them "Tier A, Tier B, Tier C ..." instead of using adjectives like "Profession".

Would you agree this will not affect any regular RNs, even those who get a bachelor's degree?

Have you even LOOKED at college tuition lately for any 4 year schools? Doesn't sound like you have.

And the whole insult of being disregarded as a profession besides that is enormous. Not to mention the other programs, where it is almost necessary to get additional degrees for any advancement whatsoever.

for tuition at state universities, plus housing.

And a person can become a RN with a 2-year degree. I assume some employers will provide tuition assistance for those who start with an Associate's degree and pursue the bachelor and master levels while working.

Master's, possibly or not. It still adds up. And you might not be looking at the WHOLE COST either. That's just tuition. What about living expenses---maybe dorm or apartment (we aren't all lucky enough to live in the same city as a university), food, and OMG, textbooks! Have you looked at the insane cost of TEXTBOOKS? I know what they were 40 years ago when I was in school, and I bought most of mine used and borrowed some. I also question your $40-80K for 4 years. Not in my state! You must be talking about East Jesus Tech somewhere.
