Trump says he will issue executive order on voter ID if legislation fails
(ABC News) President Donald Trump said Friday there will be voter ID requirements for the midterm elections "whether approved by Congress or not," vowing to issue an executive order if legislation fails.
"This is an issue that must be fought, and must be fought, NOW! If we can't get it through Congress, there are Legal reasons why this SCAM is not permitted. I will be presenting them shortly, in the form of an Executive Order," Trump said in a post on his social media platform.
In an earlier social media post, Trump claimed without evidence that Democrats are not in favor of voter ID laws because they "want to continue to cheat in Elections."

(54,623 posts)FEDERAL law for voting in STATES is not permitted by way of the 10th Amendment.
Doesn't matter whether it's Congress or the WH. It's still federal law. The Supremacy Clause doesn't apply.

(6,961 posts)Can't be enforced, since elections are run by the states, and it will take more than "legislation" to change that. Congress can pass bills from now until the world ends, they can't regulate elections without a constitutional amendment that would require two thirds of Congress to approve and two thirds of states to ratify.
It will never happen.
An executive order will be like everything else that comes out of his mouth, nothing. He can issue it and nothing will happen as a result, since the executive branch has no jusridiction over elections.
