Was a take on Buck Owen’s “Act Naturally.” Ringo is a comfortable kinda guy. Long may he live and entertain.

That seems to be about the only critical factor for country-western success, these days. If you haven't encountered all the Beyonce-bashing going on in the social media these days for her sin of putting out a successful C-W album, count your blessings.

Hey, even the least talented of the Beatles is entitled to make a living; thankfully there's no requirement---yet---that I have to listen to Ringo's current output.

If you mean "when did he start getting paid for it," he did CW bits even when he was with Rory and the Hurricanes, but mostly after he became a solo artist.

as Ringo has performed on the stage of the Old Ryman in Nashville, he's country, even if I do think he needs to work on his accent a bit and add some twang.
I expect, like so many performers, Ringo was influenced early on by the likes of Hank Sr.

"Seven decades after first becoming entranced by country music and Western culture, former Beatles drummer and storied rock frontman Ringo Starr finally made his Grand Ole Opry debut on Friday evening.

The moment occurred as he was the final artist presented onstage during an Opry taping that also featured Country Music Hall of Famer and Opry cast member Don Schlitz, other Opry cast members Lauren Alaina, Mandy Barnett, Riders In The Sky and Rhonda Vincent, Grammy-nominated country performer Mickey Guyton, and Starr's Grammy, Americana and International Bluegrass Music Association award-winning recent "Look Up" album collaborator Molly Tuttle.

"As you may have noticed, I dressed up a bit tonight. I'm a cowboy inside. This is a great honor and an incredible moment for me. It's just a dream to end up here," Starr noted after stepping into the Opry's vaunted circle, removing a white cowboy hat from his head and commencing to launch into a tight, three-song set.

The Grammy-winning multi-Hall of Fame-inducted icon performed his January 2025-released "Look Up" album ballad "Time On My Hands," a jauntily countrified rock take on The Beatles' cover of Buck Owens' "Act Naturally" and a finale of a cover of The Beatles' "With A Little Help From My Friends."

The latter featured many artists who performed previously and guests, including rock icon T Bone Burnett (who produced and co-wrote much of "Look Up&quot , plus Country Music Hall of Famer and Grand Ole Opry member Ricky Skaggs."...(more)
