Does anyone besides me love the Swiss Guard/Vatican outfits?

I've always loved their colors and style. In fact, they remind me a lot of the clothes from the TV show The Nanny. I was trained in fashion and these designs are quite attractive. Michelangelo didn't design them, as rumored, but the colors were inspired by him.

(+/- neighborhood...) who do the flag demos in the weeks leading up to the Palio (horse race.) I've always been jealous of their tights!

They go back to the Renaissance, very traditional. Everything about Vatican City is traditional and beautiful.
I am not Catholic, but I respected this Pope.

during a visit to Italy. Mostly because I had no idea what power they held.

The History of Fashion and I still look at my big fat textbook on occasion.

I loved the guards, too. I also enjoyed seeing the ensembles of the representatives from the Eastern Catholic contingent and really all of the pageantry.

Also, one of my prize possessions is a framed original fashion plate of a woman's dress with a bustle and a matching parasol.

It’s the total effect. These guys have military special forces training. They could filet you with their pike and look good doing it. Formidable people.

Similar to British ceremonial dress.
