My parents stayed there on my father's embarkation leave.

They gave me a "Heritage Room", that had an iron "valet door" (you would leave your suit in the door through a hatch, turn the "service" indicator, and your suit would be taken, cleaned and pressed and returned.)

The room has 1930's period furniture.

Twice with my parents during the mid 1960s, then overnight once in the late 1970s. All three rooms had those valet doors and the 1930s period furniture. Of course, my parents had some 1930s furniture, some of which is still in the family.

My parents were no longer alive when they tore the place down, but I know that they would have been sad at the thought. You're welcome for the story. It's been a family joke for years.

It was a famous hotel. Too bad they didn't renovate it, the building was enormous.
