(6,425 posts)Brother had to resort to using a heavy chain, wrapped around the smallish power pole to hold the dog back because he was so intent on protecting mom from the strangers while she was down. When the ambulance drove off to take mom to the hospital, that dog pulled the power pole to nearly a 45 degree angle trying to go after his beloved mommy.
When mom came to, first thing she asked was: Is Sam OK? Small hospital, only one floor & ICU rooms had windows. ICU nurse asked us to bring Sam to the window so mom would calm down.
Dogs love their families and some are pretty adamant about protecting them no matter what.

SADAR
(65 posts)that happened in Louisville 50 (?) years ago.
Was sitting in a traffic jam on a 4 lane street, when an ambulance goes by. Seconds later a German Shepherd dragging a lead comes running down the side of the road where I am sitting in traffic, running between the stopped cars, chasing the ambulance. Before I could get out of the car, he was gone, still chasing the ambulance, I assume. I always wondered if someone caught him and if the owner got him back. Haunts me to this day.
