Do you know what an automatic fish feeder is? If goldfish have a short memory, how do they know what time of the day to congregate under the feeder at the scheduled meal time?

(10,121 posts)1. I was fishing when a young kid, 50+ years ago. Had a big bream on a stringer, and several other breams swam up and
tried to get her loose. I felt bad, so let her go. She and her friends swam off.
So, yeah, they aren't as dumb as many think.

(35,336 posts)3. I feed the fish in my farm pond around 8 to 8:30 pm
every evening. When I walk out to the ponds edge, you see the surface water with ripples and all headed to my direction. Catfish that weigh 15 to 20 and up to 50 pounds can make the water boil. Even the little bluegill get excited. They all know it's time to eat.
