I need some help please concerning Gemini or whatever the hell it is called on an Android phone.

Caveat: I'm ok, but not great, with phone technology, and I hate screwing around with new things if the old things are working fine.

Today, I went to a different cannabis dispensary than the one I normally go to because they had the gummies that I like, but my normal dispensary was all out of them. I've been to this different dispensary before, but I always have to use Google maps to navigate me there because it is on a very commercially-populated road in a strip mall, and I always drive by it and miss it.

What I used to say was "Ok Google". Then some thing would pop up on my phone, and I'd say "navigate me to 1423 Jones Road". And then Google Maps would pop up and say verbally "OK, 1423 Jones Rd." It would then talk to me and give me directions as I drove.

Now, when I tried to do this, some stupid thing pops up (I think it's Google Gemini) or some horseshit that I know nothing about. Then, this stupid fucking thing thing starts talking to me for about 9 hours, telling me that it can't navigate me because I need Google maps, and I'm usually in a big hurry, so I sit there like an idiot in my car telling this thing to "shut up fucker" and it keeps fucking talking like a blabbermouth, and I'm trying to talk to my phone verbally and tell it to go to Google maps because I don't want to pick up my fucking phone and start hitting icons just to get to Google maps, and this fucking Gemini bullshit keeps telling me its life story and won't shut the fuck up.

So now I have to pick up my phone and kill this Gemini horseshit manually, then hit the icon for Google maps manually. There used to be some kind of green button in Google maps that i could hit and then tell it where I want it to go, and it would verbally give me directions, but now I can't see that green button in Google maps anymore so I have to TYPE in the place I want to go to before it starts talking to me to navigate me.

My question: How do I verbally get into Google maps without having to find the icon and press it. Also, once I'm in Google maps, how to I tell it where I want to go without having to type it in?

Whew!

Thank you in advance.

And will argue with you mostly by being asinine and obstinate. I've got a long story about that. If you want to start a lawsuit against Google for foisting Gemini onto our phones, I'd join it.

Eff these companies trying to ram their barely functional AI products down our throats...just because they've got to show something for all the investor money they've been pocketing.

What a time to be alive.

Apparently, you can't delete Gemini because it is integrated with blah blah blah...

But you CAN switch back from Gemini to the old Google Assistant like this:

Switch back to Google Assistant:
Open the Gemini app.
Go to your profile picture or initial, then tap on "Switch to Google Assistant".
Confirm your choice.

You can then go back to saying "Ok google" or "Hey Google".

I tried it. It worked.
