Friday Night Rum Buzz. Ask me anything.

A shot and half of coconut rum to finish off the old bottle. Now, a Daiquiri with the new bottle of white rum I just picked up.

Believe it or not, I’ve never had a Daiquiri before. Rum, lime juice, and simple syrup. Yummy! The perfect summer drink.

The country is sinking deeper into the shit, but at least I had a great day in clinic. I did high quality clinical medicine, met with a lot of nice people, and got to visit with one of my homeless patients from the old days.

It was good to see him again. He’s a total sweetheart. Love him to death.

Looking forward to a relaxing weekend.

I love you all…

Would never have guessed that.

How many other drinks do you know of that you have yet to try?

I was given a quart of beautiful berries after I bought some. It would be a shame if they went to waste.

It still whips up a decent frozen daiquiri, though, just like when we both were young.

Frozen cocktails probably make for a nice working retirement.

It’s developed some cracks. I am hoping it will last me to the end.

Digging, raking, cutting roots, pulling rocks, hauling gravel in buckets through the woods - it was great fun, and a perfect way to shut off the horror show of the news, although I think I am 2 inches shorter tonight than I was this morning. Those buckets were heavy!

Nothing fancy for drinks after, just cold Geary’s Ale, followed by grilled swordfish. Feels good.

How will you be relaxing this weekend?

Every day this country falls deeper and deeper into the abyss, so good news is most welcome.

If I recall correctly, my first cocktail was a coconut Daiquiri that my aunt bought me at The Harbour House in Annapolis. I wasn't really fond of it, but drank it for the buzz, After lunch I walked out of the restaurant into the bright summer sun and right into a wooden pole. No damage to me or the pole, but a memorable encounter nonetheless.

Think I am going to have a Jameson over ice and try to forget that the evil orange felon is still in our White House. It might take two, or three...

Cheers.

Never had a Daiquiri??? How is that possible??? Sooooo, no frozen? No Strawberry?? You have a LOT of catching up to do!

I was just reading a fascinating article on how climate change is affecting the taste of gins. The juniper berries on their different terroirs are changing with the changing growing conditions. Nobody knows how it will turn out.

Islay, the island famous for its peaty single malts, is distilling a wonderful gin now, smooth and subtle enough for sipping neat. Not something gin is known for.

The Botanist is my current favorite.

Have you ever had a colonial rum punch? Do you know the recipe?

Care to share? It sounds wonderful. There’s an old story that Continental Congressional President John Hancock used to have a cup of rum punch even before getting out of bed in the morning. And would have polished off an entire bowl of it by breakfast.

That’s living…
