Now there are various fairs/festivals-city, craft , renaissance, church, school to go to. What were/are your favorite

fair/festivals "foods". Mine was a funnel cake, powered sugar and strawberries on top. What about you?

I think they were Polish sausages. I make them at home sometimes, but they're rarely as good as they were back then at the fair.

knew what was coming. The sausage and roll with the onions and peppers right off of the grill. Heaven

Over there several organizations have booths at the fair where they make and sell gumbo to raise money. I used to get a bowl from each one to see which was the best. To me, that was the best part of going to the fair.

It's hard to say who was the best. I'll have to go back there this year and try them all again. It'll be my own little contest.

At the Kentucky Apple Festival in Paintsville, KY. They are like turn-overs, but fried. They were always sold by the "Thelma Volunteer Fire Department" food stand. There were many stands for charities and the people cooking knew what they were doing!

I was about 10 years old when my father took me, my sister, and brother to the Mid-South Fair in Memphis. About three years later, when we lived near Bridgeport, Ct., my mother took us my sister and me to the New York World's Fair in 1964. First time I ever rode on a train.

where I first ate it.

This was at the NYC 9th Ave Food Festival! About 18 blocks of food vendors, often outside food offerings from the restaurants there, too. And other vendors.

For dessert - Zeppolis!
Fried dough balls with, or w/o powdered sugar on them! 😄

Haven't been since covid. 😌 Had been going for almost 45 yrs?! Since my early twenties.

There was a pie company some years later that eventually got too big, and recipes changed or something...

But back then they had a apple, walnut, something (sour cream?) pie. Ohhh, yum. As a Chocoholic your non chocolate stuff had to be really good to impress me! 😄

are always a favorite treat.
We also like our local art fair that has a variety of food choices and an event called Chalk the Block, where artists of all talent levels compete for the best chalk art on the streets of St. Joe, Michigan. There are no food vendors there, only restaurants.
