(22,389 posts)i found what we needed in the jar. it had door knob set screws etc. if i need a tack, i have tacks. nails, etc. the cherry spear i grabbed works great for the lint filter. ice pics always handy. a itty bitty screwdriver fixes the sauce pan handle. my old bottle brushes clean my teapot. my old heaters are the only ones we can use or our fuses blow.
CTyankee
(66,548 posts)moved in. I had no idea what a fuse was. Our house was built during the last year houses were built before WW2 and had been previously owned by a very religious couple who belonged to a small Jewish community in our section of New Haven. I didn't even know what a fuse was. I learned quickly and we had to update our house. I was pretty ticked off at the time but I got over it.

(22,389 posts)kitchen mostly. our house built in 1926. but rather modern. copper flashing everywhere + the windows don't use
the normal weights. we have springs. i have done estate sales for 20+ yrs + never saw springs. only the kitchen i guess. gotta check elsewhere. front + dinning room windoors open like doors. so many windows. + no ac.
CTyankee
(66,548 posts)frayed the windows came down with a thud. That was our very next improvement. However, we got nice, well fitting windows, our second improvement. Don't even ask about the kitchen stove but it was gas and we wanted a gas oven. That old oven belonged in a museum and we actually tried to sell it as a vintage item but alas, no takers. We did get a nice modern gas stove in black cuz I didn't want to clean it too often. It looks great and has only had one repair in all these years...(over 20).
pansypoo53219
(22,389 posts)we haven't had to fix any ropes in any windows. just the cat incident. leaded windows a bit more trouble.

Never again. .

It's like they slice the fish so thin, you could literally see through it, then bread the hell out of it.
Well, I don't eat the breading for health reasons, so this really made me angry.

debm55
(48,204 posts)that much. Never ate there again. Did you complain to the manager about it. sorry that happened to you.

(71,407 posts)Sorry to hear Long John's has gone to hell, too.
If you love Pacific Cod, though, Aldi has been carrying it. I air fry it. ZERO breading & 100% yumminess.

Good luck!

I'm tossing four of the meat thermometers and keeping the super fancy electronic one.
Thanks for the inspiration. I have accumulated so much stuff over 40+ years and need to pare things down. I have tools from my mom that I don't use but I still can't part with yet - and she's been gone over 20 years.

When we remodeled the kitchen a few years ago, I didnt put a catch all drawer in. Best decision ever. Really cut down on the junk, because there is nowhere to put it.
