My 45 reunion update.

It started off a little weird at first with people coming up to me and hugging me and they apparently knew me. I didn't remember some of them. So I kind of did the "oh good to see you," glance at the name tag thing. Then one of my classmates who we follow each other on Facebook ran over an hugged me. It was good seeing her and another FB friend both anti-Trumpers.

The getting the name tag thing was kind of funny. For years some of the teachers and classmates were always confused because me and another girl had similar but not identical names. So sure enough the guy passing out the tags, tried to give me Lisa's. He apologized, and I said, "it's okay. It reminds me of the old days. Lisa and I also went to the same college and we lived on the same floor in two different buildings Junior and Senior year. People got our names mixed up there too. We got to be good friends and was happy to see her again. She said about the name, "they're never going to get it right."

Saw some of the people from Catholic School, and some of them hugged me, and I was okay with that. It's just a little weird considering how they used to bully me as a kid. The friend who drove me there, who started in Catholic School, but whose parents transferred him to public school and another lady who was in our kindergarten class mentioned the evil teacher. We all grimaced and commented how mean she was. I told Pat if he thought she was bad, he was lucky he didn't meet the sixth grade teacher who was a psychopath.

My friend Pat knew a lot more people than I did so for a small amount of time I was standing awkwardly by myself, but then two of my other best friends from high-school showed up and it was like no time had passed. We just sat down together and it was like being at the lunch room table all over again, except there were no food fights going on around us.

There were a couple of things that surprised me. Several people made comments about how they love my German Shepherd posts on Facebook, and how my previous ones and Dakota are gorgeous. Another St. Mary's classmate, who was always one of the nice guys, told me he loves my history posts. Here I didn’t even realize that anybody other than my closest friends were reading anything I wrote. A number of them mentioned they saw my name several times in the paper when I worked for the Historical Society and was Town Historian. I told my therapist about this today and she said see you made a far better impression on people than you give yourself credit for.

There was a sad but nice moment where we had a moment of silence for the 22 classmates who passed away. 5 of them were good friends.

On the downside everyone said the food was horrible, and we were packed in like sardines on a hot humid night. So my friends Sandy and Joanie said they were leaving, and I wanted to go home too, but didn't want to make Pat leave early. I was going to call my sister, but Sandy and her husband said they'd take me home. So we said good bye to Pat and left.

No one said anything about my not working anymore, a few others weren't still working either. So overall it was better than I expected. Also we were promised if we do the 50th, it won't be at that golf club again. 🤣

That food really sucked. We all confessed in a messenger chat, we ate junk food when we got home. 🤪

I am glad I went to. At least the food gave us something to laugh about too.

Time. Had to feel good to know people followed your life to see how well you are doing. Here's a cupcake to celebrate. 🧁
