She does one after another.

I talk to her and am trying to convince her she has freedom of choice.
Stop being a baby machine and fly free.
She just looks at me and doesn't budge off the nest.

every chance he gets. No wonder they have so many bevies. My nest sits about 4 -5 feet outside my foyer entry. So I talk to them too. I usually just say “oh, momma or daddy you’re ok, I’m not gonna hurt ya.” The dad has mor blue on the sides of his neck, a tad easier to notice than mom. Mom is just that beautiful dove color.

She is about two feet from the front door entry, there is a covered porch.
She is perched in a little alcove there.

I have not seen the dad.
I just see mom and the babies.

If I see Dad, I will have a talk with him.

These birds need to get a life away from the bedroom.

Just slightly larger. You’ve probably seen him. They share the work.

The alcove is quite small and not a lot of room for more than the nest and one adult.
Not great lighting. So I cannot see the color markings clearly.

I have never seen two adults doves together in the alcove.
Just one. Maybe they switch out the duties and one stays, the other takes off.

Does the male sit on the nest?

Some days the dove looks a bit bigger and sitting up straight.
Other times slouched down and looking smaller.

I think there is a a nest in a nearby tree where the other dove and the older children hang out.

Nest in my window. So, I saw everything almost like I was at the zoo! They both take turns sitting on them and feeding them. Both male and female doves make “crop milk” in a pouch in their throats and, at the beginning, they feed the nestlings crop milk. Later they bring them seeds. I have video of both mom and dad feeding them! Except for the few days before they fledge, mom and dad rarely leave the nestlings alone. They will take turns looking for food and caring for them. I think Mom always does night duty. My doves were mourning doves. I believe most doves are monogamous. So, it’s probably always the same 2 that you see. (If the nest was successful the first time, they will often reuse that nest for the next brood.)

I am pretty sure they are the same doves which return every year.
They are used to me.

Yes I think you are right, mom does night duty and early morning.
Dad during the day.

Yes they use the same nest over and over.
But this last time they refurbished with more twigs, bigger ones.

Last time, one egg fell out of the nest, so they only had one little bird who survived.

Oh that would be so neat to have them right at the window.
Yes like a zoo view.

Outside the window of my art studio (4th floor-Manhattan). I watched the whole thing. I even saw them when they fledged the nest! It was fascinating.
I hoping mom decides to use the same spot and I get my front row seat again. I just love them. How long is it usually between broods?
