Although I don't see pediatric patients anymore, either. If only the parents stayed as calm as Calvin's mother, I wouldn't have had such a hard time back when I was a Medical Assistant. I've had parents who would "prepare" their kids by saying things like: "It's going to hurt, baby! It's going to hurt so bad! But you be brave, now, baby! You be brave!"



No wonder the kids would freak out. My own prep to the kids was: "Ah, you'll feel a little sting; nothing to it." I always got better responses with that than the parents did with their melodrama.
