Man, did I want to kick his racist old ass out of my clinic.
But I didn't. I gave him good medical care. But none of it came with the magic of the Aristus charm. I patched him up and got him out.
I'm trying to get a history of present illness out of him, and he just started talking about "the idiots the former President let into our country!..."
Argh! Save the Trumpster bullshit until you are with your brainless cronies at the American Legion. (He was a Vietnam Veteran; he had The Cap. I know we have many, many liberal Vietnam Veterans here at DU, and I love you all.)
Four hours until the weekend...
I need a drink...

(4,949 posts)You gave him good care, which we should all have, but depriving him of your charm was well deserved.
Choose something special to start your weekend.

(27,557 posts)The office where I now practice has exactly three Democrats out of fifteen total individuals: Yours truly, the owner/dentist and his wife. The staff know better than to discuss politics in my presence. The patients in this Trump-Country region, not so much.

Used to be that men needed to know the family of the barber before they'd allow their necks to be stroked by the razor.

(21,089 posts)Perhaps the vets that feel drawn to the American Legion are the same that would be drawn to the NRA. Gun humping just for the love of guns, guts, and gory.
Same for a few WW-II vets. The ones I knew saw no good in fascists like trump.

(166,855 posts)If the guy is a racist, he will admire the guy who is making it cool again to be a racist.
If the guy is a woman abuser or rapist, he could admire Trump for that.
If the guy is a pedophile, or perhaps is struggling with such demons, he can appreciate Trump for legitimizing his pedo feelings and actions.
If he is a person who has been a habitual under-achiever throughout his life, he can take satisfaction in the guy who celebrates ignorance and attacks science and intellectual achievement daily.
I know many veterans who fall into NONE of these categories. But I think most veterans would acknowledge the military tends to attract people with one or more of these tendencies. And now that we have ICE, that list is basically the complete job description.

(581 posts)Not all Nam Vets support the Orange Draft Dodger. There are a lot of us who look at the information and swing the other way.
I know that for a fact, and I am not the only one. There are many of us.

Ever since Mango Mussolini was so nasty, dismissive and disrespectful to the Blue Star family the Khans, I've been puzzled about why even ONE military or veteran would support this bunwad.

(793 posts)I had a really nasty patient who would throw her used tampons around and just gross stuff like that. She was manic, hyper-religious, and ended with assault charges for assaulting staff multiple times. She raged on liberals and how i probably voted for Kamala. Guess what honey?
Your next home is going to be on the street, because your medicaid is gone. Have fun getting a job with assault charges on healthcare workers, and all the horrible stuff you post on social media.

If you see someone with Vietnam Veterans hat and they're spouting bullshit ask them what their MOS was.
I remember confronting a poser and I offered to take him to the VA regional office to acquire VA benefits. He did some verbal gymnastics that would make Sammy "The Weasel" Alito blush.

(3,713 posts)has about 30 workers. Only my sister and a couple of others are solidly blue. There are probably a dozen "in the middle", in other words they aren't really concerned if it doesn't affect them personally. The rest are far right maga. A half dozen or so are from México or still have family there. My sister says that they are definitely on edge. The practice has a fair number of patients who only speak Spanish and they rely on family members or staff for translation. Besides my sister only one other staff member who isn't at risk of sudden deportation has any Spanish at all. My sister is on the verge of retirement. The doctors, who are all raging maga, are going to end up having to pay for a phone translation service most likely.
