Thanks nitpicked. The walkway was here already. The previous owners built it for her wheelchair-bound grandmother.

Put your grill on that porch. You can use it year round. Maybe the best thing ever.

We have a gas stove indoors that I consider a greater risk. Porch has a concrete floor. Decks burn.

(1,319 posts)1. I love the walkway!
Stairs are such a PITA...

The owners also installed "grab bars" in the shower for her. They left us the nicest house of my 73 years.
It just occurred to me what PITA means and I agree wholeheartedly with you. Thank You!

The colours on the roof match the sky, and then the lit-up porch. Is that you and Laurie I can see in the window?

(57,863 posts)13. Fire codes typically ban grilling close to multifamily homes, and while owners of private homes are
likely to have more discretion to risk setting fire to their homes, or covering windows, siding, etc., with soot and grease, it's really not a great idea. I do have some relatives with a large brick outdoor kitchen built beside their pool, but that's not only much safer than Allan's porch, it's well away from their house.

fire departments advise against.
