Jamie Lee Curtis as Jessica Fletcher?

I saw a story the other day that there is a movie being considered. I think if it happens, it'll be fun. But I got to thinking about other iconic detectives from the 70s, 80s, 90s, and have been wondering if there will be movies based on Columbo, or Monk? Who would portray them? As I enjoy the bearable summer weather, the idle speculation is like a picnic.

I had to look up the name, saw he's English. I'd miss Peter Falk's gravelly voice and east coast accent.
Maybe Edward Norton would be good in the Colombo role.
Also toy with the idea of a woman or POC in the roles.
It is fun. Kind of wish I knew more about younger actors

and the lesser ones where improvements could be made aren't likely worth reworking.

I saw the cinematic "The Avengers" once, then promptly forgot practically everything about it. Despite having generally positive feelings about Uma Thurman and Ralph Fiennes, Mrs. Peel and John Steed, for me, won't be anyone other than Dame Diana Rigg and Patrick Macnee. Because of the sudden change in the writing style after their first season together, they'll remain black and white ever after, too.

I'm all for idle speculation, but I have little familiarity with younger actors, too, so I'm spinning my wheels.

In a theater, but it was a long time ago. I canceled cable about 6 years ago, so I'm really deficient in current pop culture

If I have trouble going to sleep, I try casting actors, living or dead, for characters in books I've read. I fall asleep pretty quick.

I loved The Avengers, original series. I haven't seen the movie.
