I was on my way to work. I parked my car, and went into the elevator lobby and pushed the up button so I could go to my office on the 21st floor.

An elevator came, it opened, and an older lady stood there looking perplexed until the doors closed, and up she went. I again pushed the up button. The same elevator arrived, with the same woman. I said, “Ma’am, this is the parking level.” No response, the doors closed, and she was off again.

Again I pushed the button, and got the same elevator out of four; what are the chances, three times in a row. Again, I told her it was the parking level and asked what floor she wanted — as the doors closed a third time.

The fourth time, I stepped up, put my arm in the elevator to hold the doors open, and asked if she wanted parking. She said I was rude and to get out of her way!

These people are so absorbed in their own personal worlds the don't consider how what they're doing affect others.

A few examples:
People who enter a supermarket or store with a shopping cart stop between the doors or just inside the door block others so they can check their purse or something else.

People who immediately get up from their seat when a plane lands so they can be first off. What that actually does is delays exiting the aircraft for everyone. If people in the front of the plane first would go first then the plane could empty faster.

The person in a checkout lane or self-checkout lane who are ringing up their purchase remembers they forgot something and decides to go get it tying up until the return and complete their checkout.
