My pet hoverfly

As my wife went inside a clothing store, I amused myself by ‘taming’ this here hoverfly, which I enticed into landing on my fingertip several times, as though it became ‘our’ routine. Each time it t landed, I could feel the proboscis gently palpating my skin. I could feel it despite the incredibly small size. Thanks, little guy, for allowing me to capture an image of those amazing iridescent wings.

Zephyranthes is a tropical wildflower best known by the name Rain Lilies, which was given due to their tendency to bloom after a hard rainfall. Blooms last a day or two but new blooms appear after the next rain.

Taking a break after trimming tomatoes…this little guy wouldn’t leave me alone…it was a great experience.

You got a great picture.

Are pretty good pollinators, too.

I try to remember not to speak to them audibly if neighbors are nearby.

Playing with AI will surely lead to my ruination, but I’ll have fun in the meantime.
