Wow, I cannot believe the amazing Icelandic-Chinese jazz singer named Laufey has been under my radar so long!

Okay, she's only been out for 4 years but I usually keep my ear pretty close to the ground with new music (that isn't pop garbage) and earlier tonight stumbled on a song of hers and started exploring her repertoire and seriously, holy-moly!

She is absolutely nails, esp. considering she's playing tight, beautiful jazz licks on guitar and piano while she's singing so beautifully (she's also an excellent celloist though doesn't play it in this show).

I am in awe of this young lady right now, and watching her is almost surreal she's SO talented at such a young age (esp. with this challenging sort of music).



What's really cool is that a number of her songs have a TON of plays on Spotify, like 750M+. Just when you worry the population has no 'taste' anymore, someone comes along like her and blows that idea up. Of course, no idea how many of them are listens from the USA, so there's that.
