Good for you in showing the love still. It's a shame that some animals are abused so horribly, and the humans SWBTATTReg Aug 12 #2

I brought her home almost six years ago, and she wouldn't let anyone come near her. She wouldn't come inside for almost two months, even when it was below freezing at night. She finally decided to trust me, and she came indoors right as I was considering returning her to the shelter. It took another three years for her to let my son, who had two dogs and two cats at home, pet her. It took years of love and patience, and now she's a calm, loving, happy camper. She loves having the grandchildren around, and lets all of us love her. The only residual anxiety in her is of the car. She simply won't get in to go anywhere.

that abused them are free still, to potentially harm other animals.

My folks lived in a very rural area of MO, right behind a state park, the area have very few residents and it/is a nice area, w/ lots of wildlife and such. Unfortunately, as all of us found out down there, it was also a major drop off area for people who who wanted to abandon their animals. Everyone of us along that stretch of highway behind the park for miles had adopted animals that got abandoned there.

Since then, I have sold off the land and such, but my sister still has the place. I've always been so disappointed in humanity's inhumanity in just about everything. Sad.
