What is the funniest TV comedy show?

I've watched a lot of funny comedy shows and there are a couple that stand out. My favorite comedy show is The Big Bang Theory. The characters are great and the writers wrote great scenes and lines.

Runner up shows are:
Doc Martin
Seinfeld
Home Improvement
Newhart
Rowan and Martin's Laugh-in

i'll give a ton of credit for the simpsons managing to still be funny despite being on since forever. very few shows manage to stay relevant and funny for anything near that long.

not to mention, even the best comedy shows are hit or miss. it's kinda in the nature of comedy.

and most tv shows quickly become formulaic and predictable. predictability can be comforting for dramatic shows, but it's the death of comedy.

As a whole series I love 'Allo, 'Allo, and Fawlty Towers.

For political satire, Yes, Minister and Yes, Prime Minister are incredible.

For non-English, C.U. Burn is grand.

WKRP had a great cast. Barney started out a little uneven but improved every year. Both shows left on top, saving us the inevitable slow decline, such as MASH.

Her old show with that great cast was so funny they used to crack each other up. You could tell at times they had a hard time staying in character without losing it.
Great comedy and talent.

Because it is timeless. I can sit down today and watch an episode and laugh til I am crying and breathless. There are a bunch of great comedies - many mentioned above, but Carol Burnett is the boss.

And one I still watch: Saturday Night Live

Could probably think of more if I wanted to sit here and think about it for a while.

I’ve watched every episode several times and still laugh. The first viewing of each took much longer than the show because I had to keep going back to catch what I missed when I was laughing so hard.

That show is the perfect blend of absurdity dialed up to 8 at minimum, (11 during heist episodes) and straight-to-the-heart sincerity.

Scrubs was also brilliant at striking that balance.

Others shows I have enjoyed include 3rd Rock From the Sun, 30 Rock, and Community. Enjoying Ghosts these past few years, but when Colbert goes away, I will be giving up that ghost. (Sorry for the pun.)

Also, from Netflix, The Upshaws and F is for Family are hilarious.
