It comes in no small part from having spent ten years as an airline ticket agent at DCA. Trust me, airlines care a great deal that flights are on time. If a flight was late, every single minute of the delay had to be attributed to some employee or group of employees. Two minutes to ground handlers (meaning they were slow at opening the cargo doors), three minutes to unloading (five minutes was the allowed time, this took longer), then it loads and the doors close on time. Alas, there's a delay, so five minutes delay now gets blamed on Air Traffic Controls. During the flight, those minutes are made up, but now there's a delay approaching the airport. Six minutes blamed on air traffic control.

I think you get the idea. Being on time is wonderful, fabulous, and everyone should always be on time everywhere. Really, they should. And keep this in mind the next time your flight or bus trip or trip somewhere is delayed.

When I notice that someone with no hearing issues does this a lot I stop responding. I don't repeat what I just said, and the vast majority of times they then respond to what I'd orininally said, proving that they heard what I said in the first place and that the "What" or "Huh" was more like a "Ummmm...." or a "Hmmmm..."

I just thought of another one. When people say "whenever" when they should say "when." Come on. When means a single event, whenever means you did or saw something multiple times.

Does that make me old? If so, GET OFF MY LAWN!

... I'm not at all annoyed. I feel like I'm too old to assume she's flirting, however. So I instead say, "SASSY!", but non-verbally (in my imagination only).

Like this:

As for what annoys me lately, I think it's mostly my coworkers who seem to demand praise from others without reciprocating, despite how others are objectively more deserving of it. It was never this bad years ago. I think there's a growing narcissism problem in this country, not just in the White House. Maybe social media is helping to create more praise and self-confirmation addicts?

on either side, and then constantly running their hands through it as if to rearrange it. Lady, that hair is in exactly the same place it was before you “fixed” it, so what are you doing? If you’re going to do anything to it, flip it back behind your shoulders, otherwise leave it alone.

There’s a contestant on the new Dancing With The Stars season that does this. It’s probably a nervous habit, but it really is annoying to watch during her interviews.

It's become increasingly commonplace to use this phrase the way "mmm-hmm" or "uh-huh" have long been used - interjecting it periodically into a conversation just to show that one is attentive and listening, and is following what the speaker is saying. It has the opposite effect, though, making it seem as though the person rapidly saying "yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah" is bored or annoyed with the speaker.
